If the oral agreement is introduced as evidence in favor of an interpretation, there may be competing evidence for a different interpretation.
Introducing the agreement for interpretive purposes does not guarantee that the written agreement will be interpreted in accord with it.
In contrast, when the oral agreement is introduced to enforce it (as opposed to interpret it), that guarantees that the written agreement will indeed be interpreted in accord with the oral agreement.
