Rex cannot revoke the offer within the six day period without breaking his promise; hence the legally enforceable promise limits his power to revoke the offer, and is thus an option contract.
Note: There are two ways for Rex to communicate the promise to hold the offer open. He could include it in the offer to sell the car; or, he could make it separately from that offer.
